eTEACH Project overview

From 2016 onwards, all Queensland Schools of Distance Education are scheduled to introduce the full Australian Curriculum for years Prep to 10 with the inclusion of the learning areas Civics and Citizenship (Years 3-10), Economics and Business (Years 5 – 10), Health and Physical Education, the Arts and Technologies.

To enable the implementation of these additional learning areas the following is proposed:
  • The eTEACH project will produce digital resources to provide for independent learning (with occasional internet requirement). Independent digital resources will be created for each learning area for years Prep – 7. They will be available on USB, DVD or Blackboard.
  • Adjustments will be made to students’ timetable and home-study expectations to ensure the weekly work rate stays within 20 and 24 hours per week, as it is currently.
  • The resources will be aligned to the curriculum intent of the Australian Curriculum and will draw upon and adapt C2C resources.
  • The sequence of subject development is: Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Health and Physical Education, The Arts and lastly Technology. The basis for lesson development will be C2C band plans and topic outlines.

Quality assurance of the product will occur as individual units are developed and completed.

The project coordinator, Judith Felton is based at Brisbane SDE, and heads a reference group with representatives from each SDE. All seven Schools of Distance Education will contribute towards the development process by trialing lessons with students and staff, providing feedback and modifications/recommendations for inclusion in the final version of the resources.
