School based Supervisors Responsibilities

Students at Queensland Government or non-government schools, secondary departments or other schools of distance education can enrol subject to places being available. It may be that:

·        the base school does not offer the required subject
·        a timetable clash that results in a student being unable to study the subject with the base school cohort (this enrolment is considered a ‘dual cohort’ enrolment)

Supervisors' responsibilities

A supervisor does not need to have knowledge of the subjects in which students are enrolled. They do need to encourage student communication with BrisbaneSDE. The role of the supervisor is to provide support and encouragement. Supervisors should:
  • facilitate school contact between the student/s and themselves where necessary with BrisbaneSDE teacher
  • ensure access to a computer with internet access and headset with microphone
  • ensure access to a school phone to contact BrisbaneSDE when required and a quiet place to study
  • ensure student/s attend scheduled lessons. The BrisbaneSDE 'How to' page may help with programs required  to access scheduled lessons etc.
  • ensure students understand BrisbaneSDE systems (online learning/MIS email)
