2026 registrations are welcome!  We are also accepting 2027 registrations.

Important updates to eKindy eligibility criteria – Education (General Provisions) Amendment Act 2025. Legislative amendments took effect from Term 2, 20 April 2026 to clarify the medical and distance eligibility criteria for eKindy.   A child’s eligibility under medical grounds is now based on absence from a centre-based service for more than 10 cumulative weeks across the year and distance is based on proximity to a relevant kindergarten which includes either an approved kindergarten program, or a state school that offers a State Delivered Kindergarten program.

Please note:  All applications for registration from Term 2 will be considered based on the criteria below.
Who can register for eKindy?

Under s419F of the Education General Provisions Act (2006) a child is eligible for eKindy if:

  • they turn 4 by June 30 in their kindy year
  • their parent/s are Australian citizen or permanent residents of Australia and
  • they fit into one of the following categories:

Medical

They have a medical certificate/s stating they are unable to attend a centre-based service for more than 10 weeks during the registration year due to their health

Travelling/Itinerant lifestyle

The child’s principal place of residence is likely to change at least twice during the registration year due to the parent’s work; or the child will have to spend a period of at least 10 weeks or a number of periods of at least 2 weeks that total at least 10 weeks, away from the child’s principal place of residence during the registration year.

From the frontline ...

What Jodie thinks ... My boys and I absolutely love the eKindy Program, which has made me more mindful of the learning our children achieve in the activities of everyday life. It has helped to create and direct conversation, provided guidance with the suggested activities and questions, and increased understanding of how we are learning. And all whilst in an age appropriate, play based approach. The teachers and facilitators I have worked with are nothing short of amazing, sharing the common goal to make learning both easy and fun.
Both my children are eager and excited about school, and I believe this to be thanks to a fantastic start with eKindy. (Jodi – eKindy parent)
